About the role

Our Operations Communications Centre (OCC), commonly known as “dispatch,” handles telecommunications duties that go beyond typical dispatching. Police Communications Operators serve as the direct connection between the public, Transit Police officers, and other emergency or social services. They respond to calls for service or public inquiries 24/7, evaluate and prioritize calls, and dispatch officers across the transit system. Operators take reports by phone and text, provide time-sensitive information to police, and coordinate with other agencies in the Lower Mainland. They use police databases such as CAD, CPIC, and Prime to support police activities while monitoring officer safety and availability.

Schedule

Operators work a compressed work week of 4 days on (10.5-hour shifts) followed by 4 days off.

Pay

Starting wage of $41.73 per hour.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years of prior work experience as a police dispatcher
