Summary Of The Role
The dispatcher's primary responsibilities include but are not limited to; assigning runs using dispatch software to the appropriate field crew and clearly communicating details necessary to effectively respond to the call. In addition, they answer incoming calls from clients and field crew as well as making phone calls to update or inform customers and/or crew members.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver exceptional customer service while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor with both internal teams and external partners.
- Effectively manage and prioritize incoming service requests in a fast-paced environment using multi-line phones, radio communication, and internal software systems.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of local service areas, roadways, medical facilities, and traffic patterns.
- Communicate clearly and professionally, including during high-pressure or challenging interactions, while working both independently and as part of a team.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures related to patient care coordination and documentation.
- Support operational needs by maintaining equipment/access cards and assisting with investigations or other tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Required: High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong knowledge of the Phoenix Valley and surrounding service areas
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to multitask, manage time effectively, and remain calm under pressure
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic computer systems
- Typing speed of at least 35 WPM
- Reliable team player with a positive attitude, critical thinking skills, and openness to feedback
- Ability to sit for extended periods and maintain professional phone etiquette
- Preferred: Previous experience as an EMT, EMS dispatcher, or in a healthcare/transportation setting
- Minimum of two years of customer service experience
- Some college coursework
- Familiarity with insurance coverage and medical necessity requirements
