About the role
The Dishwasher is responsible for sorting, washing, and returning dishes and utensils to food operations within the restaurant, and maintaining a clean and efficient work station. This position reports to the Kitchen Manager and/or General Manager.
Responsibilities
- Properly fill and maintain the dish machine according to manufacturer's standards.
- Maintain cleanliness standards of the machine according to health department guidelines.
- Receive, scrape, rinse, and rack dishes and utensils; unload the dish machine, stack, store, and return dishes and utensils to the proper area of the kitchen.
- Empty garbage cans in the dish area and throughout the kitchen as needed.
- Sweep and mop floors in the dish room and kitchen; clean and dry floors to avoid slip/fall accidents and replace floor mats.
- Perform general cleaning tasks using standard restaurant cleaning products as assigned by a supervisor to adhere to health standards.
- Wipe down counter tops and preparation areas to maintain a clean, efficient operation.
- Restock the area with required supplies.
- Maintain the condition and cleanliness of the work area.
- Handle cleaning chemicals according to prescribed safety standards.
- Assist with lifting and moving food carts, dish storage racks, and other kitchen equipment as directed by management.
- Set up equipment stations in designated areas so service staff can carry out their functions.
- Support any member of the dishwashing and service staff when needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager or General Manager.
Requirements
- Flexible and accessible work schedule that includes late evenings, weekends, and holidays as dictated by business needs.
- Some exposure to the food & beverage industry is preferred.
- Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced, team environment.
- Positive attitude with excellent communication skills.
- High level of cleanliness, sanitation, and personal hygiene.
- Ability to remain calm under stress.
- No prior experience required.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently required to sit, talk, hear, and use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls.
- Required to stand and walk.
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 45 lbs.
- Specific vision abilities include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- Work is performed in a kitchen environment with moderate to high noise levels, especially at peak times.
- Wearing a face mask is required during scheduled working hours.
