Dishwasher, PRN

About the Role

Van Diest Medical Center, recognized as a Top 100 Critical Access Hospital and multiple-time Top Workplace award winner, is seeking a Dishwasher to join its team. This position works under the direction of the Food Service Manager and performs duties in food preparation, service, and clean-up of breakfast, noon, and evening meals for patients. The Dishwasher also works in the cafeteria assisting customers and communicates with nursing staff and patients on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

• Accurately operates cash register
• Performs clean-up tasks including patient trays and eating utensils, pots and pans, food preparation utensils, and clean-up of own work area, kitchen, storeroom, and dining room
• Performs food serving tasks and tray assembly for patients according to physician-ordered diet
• Assists Food Service Manager and other staff members as necessary in department functions
• Checks in and puts away groceries and supplies according to correct procedures
• Participates in quality improvement and assurance activities, data collection, and documentation
• Cleans and assembles soda machine; stocks all supplies
• Keeps equipment and appearance of serving area and dining room clean and neat
• Maintains level of skill required by job description related to education, experience, tools, and equipment
• Completes all required competencies within allowed time frame
• Follows all infection control, safety, and general hospital policies, including VDMC Standards of Behavior

Schedule

Hours vary between 10:30am–2:30pm or 4pm–7pm. Includes weekends.

Requirements

• Prior hospital foodservice experience desired
• Knowledge of and ability to use, or intellectual ability to learn to use, the following tools and equipment related to foodservice tasks:
  • Hand operated kitchen utensils such as wire whips
  • Small electrical appliances such as food processor and mixer
  • Industrial electrical appliances such as a 50-quart mixer
  • Dishwasher
  • Computer and cash register
