Responsibilities

  • Oversee all machinery and technical solutions within the project.
  • Ensure mechanical solutions meet technical requirements, functional needs, and standards.
  • Develop technical specifications and requirements as a basis for procurement.
  • Collaborate closely with other disciplines (process, electrical, automation, design) to ensure integrated and functional solutions.
  • Manage and delegate work within your team, building competence and providing personnel leadership.
  • Identify and assess technical risks in the project and contribute to risk-reduction measures.
  • Ensure technical quality and feasibility in all project phases—from tender to commissioning.
  • Maintain an overview of the project, aligning design, layout, and other disciplines.
  • Monitor suppliers and production (e.g., FAT, inspections, and technical clarifications).
  • Follow up on contracts/agreements with machinery and equipment suppliers.
  • Make technical decisions related to the selection of machinery, equipment, and solutions.
  • Approve technical specifications and drawings within the mechanical discipline.
  • Manage technical clarifications with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Delegate tasks and resource allocation within the mechanical department.
  • Escalate and recommend changes to technical solutions when necessary.
  • Control and verify technical documentation received from suppliers.
  • Develop and/or ensure the completion and maintenance of the Mechanical Equipment List (MEL) and Parts & Equipment (P&E) list.
  • Handle personnel-related tasks, including employee dialogues.
  • Ensure mechanical deliveries meet quality, HSE, and progress requirements.
  • Assist the sales and tender department with technical assessments and estimates.
  • Follow up on design basis, production drawings, and assembly packages.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of work methods, standards, and technical solutions.
  • Ensure lessons learned from projects are shared and implemented within the department.

Requirements

  • Higher education in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of technical standards, norms, and requirements in industrial facilities.
  • Experience in design, production, or assembly of machinery and process plants.
  • Ability to lead and motivate professionals across projects.
  • Structured, solution-oriented, and with a strong holistic understanding.
  • Proficiency in technical documentation, specifications, and quality management.
  • Excellent communication skills in both Norwegian and English, written and verbal.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, mechanical design, industrial mechanics, or equivalent (work experience may compensate for formal education).
  • Minimum 7–10 years of relevant experience in project-based industries (e.g., industrial, process, energy, quarrying, mining, or similar).
  • Experience leading the mechanical discipline in multidisciplinary projects is desirable.
