Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital proudly serves the health care needs of families in St. Charles, Lincoln and Warren counties. The 102-bed community hospital provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services including the Siteman Cancer Center, the Breast Health and Women’s Center, the Cardiology Center, the Neurosurgery Center, and the Outpatient Surgery and Endoscopy Center. The hospital is an Accredited Chest Pain Center with Level II stroke certification. Additionally, the medical office building houses specialists in primary care, cardiology, obstetrics, dermatology, surgery, and pulmonology, and offers outpatient services such as physical therapy, a sleep lab, and cardio-pulmonary rehabilitation.

About the role

At Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital, every decision is made in the best interest of patients and families. The Nursing Resource team coordinates patient placement and bed management in collaboration with departments, admitting, and physicians to ensure exceptional care.

This role provides direct patient care to support licensed professional nurses responsible for a team of patients, ensuring a safe environment by reducing risk of harm. You will collect vital patient information and report it to the nursing team, contributing to overall patient assessments and monitoring changes in condition.

Responsibilities

  • Implement direct patient care under the supervision of the nurse, promoting patient and family-centered care in a healing environment.
  • Administer or assist patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), perform vital signs, intake & output, fall and pressure ulcer prevention measures, urinary catheter care, phlebotomy, or point-of-care testing as requested.
  • Collect clinical data and information on patients, and report changes in patient status to the nurse.
  • Assist nurse with patient and family education.
  • Document all patient care activities with correct medical terminology.
  • Act as a 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary.
  • Ensure availability of supplies and equipment to meet each patient's needs.
  • Participate in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
  • Participate in professional development.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • No prior experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as a CNA, nurse assistant, emergency medical technician, or surgical technician.
  • Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) license.

Schedule

  • 40 hours per week.
  • Monday–Friday, 11:00 AM–7:30 PM.
  • Holiday rotation required.
