Disc Jockey - Pride of America

Assists in leading scheduled social, entertainment, or recreational activities, ensuring events start on time. Sets the atmosphere using a personal music library for assigned activities, with key responsibilities in the nightclub and themed events around the ship.

Responsibilities

• Provide own equipment, including but not limited to: laptop, DJ controller, audio interface, mixer, digital turntables, personal music/music video library, and external storage.
• Use a microphone and host public events, serving as an effective Master of Ceremonies.
• Maintain, store, and track inventory of all musical equipment provided by NCL/NCLA.
• Provide handover documentation to incoming Disc Jockeys for smooth transitions.
• Collaborate as a team member with Cruise Staff, Youth Staff, and other shipboard departments.
• Be accessible and approachable to guests, ensuring a welcoming environment.
• Meet and greet guests upon embarkation.
• Assist with private parties, functions, and guest song requests.
• Perform other related duties as assigned or directed.
• Familiarize with the Safety and Environmental Protection Policy, SEMS, and follow appropriate procedures.

Requirements

• Minimum of two years’ experience as a disc jockey in various entertainment venues.
• Minimum of two years’ experience as a Master of Ceremonies.
• Basic to intermediate ability to read, write, and communicate in English; additional languages preferred.
• Minimum of one year’s experience mixing old and current music for dancing.
• Experience with mixing music videos is highly preferred.
• High School Diploma or foreign equivalent.
• Able to lift at least 50 lbs.
• Able to climb step stools or ladders, bend, lean, and stoop without hindrance.
• Fine motor skills and ability to use stairs frequently.
• Able to work in varying temperature changes (indoors to outdoors).
• Able to pass a basic safety course.

Physical Requirements

• Stand, walk long distances, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk, hear, taste, and smell.
• Repetitive motion of bending, climbing, going up and down stairs, and lifting more than 25 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• Physically able to participate in emergency lifesaving procedures and drills.
• Full use and range of arms and legs, and full visual, verbal, and hearing abilities to receive and give instructions during emergencies, including lowering lifeboats.
• Work in varying temperature changes (indoors to outdoors).

• Body Mass Index (BMI) of 40.0 or less (NCL America) or 35.0 or less (International Flag).
• Blood pressure maximum of 160/100 (NCL America) or 140/90 (International Flag).
• Able to maintain balance while walking and standing.
• Able to climb vertical ladders and stairways, step over door sills up to 24 inches, and move through restricted openings of 24x24 inches.
• Able to open and close watertight doors weighing up to 55 pounds.
• Able to move hands/arms in vertical and horizontal directions, rotate wrists, and reach above shoulder height.
• Able to lift and carry a 55-pound load repeatedly over 150 feet and up/down multiple staircases over a four-hour period.
• Able to pull an uncharged 1.5-inch fire hose to full extension and lift a charged hose to firefighting position.
• Able to put on a Personal Flotation Device (PFD) without assistance.
• Capable of normal conversation in English and standing intermittently for up to four hours with minimal rest.
• No physical limitations hindering performance of duties or motion limitations.
• Able to react to visual and audible alarms and instructions.
• Vision: Adjust focus, depth perception, peripheral vision; distance and close vision in accordance with ILO standards; intact color perception for Deck/Engine Watch standing officers.
• Upper body: Full range of motion in shoulders, elbows, and wrists; ability to grasp and manipulate tools; crouch, kneel, and crawl; distinguish textures and temperatures by feel.
• Lower body: Full range of motion in hips, knees, and ankles; no plantar fasciitis, loose or foreign bodies in knee joints, unstable or internally deranged joints, or uncorrected ligament injuries.
