About the role
This is a full-time and on-site position that is located in Chicago, IL. Must live in Chicago, IL or surrounding area. Illinois RN License Required
Responsibilities
- Coordinate return-to-work and transitional duty programs for employees recovering from occupational injuries or illnesses.
- Review and manage employee work restrictions and identify suitable job assignments that align with medical capabilities.
- Partner with operational leaders and work groups to identify available transitional or modified-duty opportunities.
- Communicate return-to-work expectations, opportunities, and updates with employees and key stakeholders.
- Track employee absences and monitor key milestones, including return-to-work readiness, retraining requirements, and credential or badge renewals.
- Maintain ongoing communication with employees throughout the recovery and return-to-work process.
- Collaborate with workers' compensation, Human Resources, operations leaders, and medical providers to facilitate successful return-to-work outcomes.
- Maintain accurate case documentation and records across multiple systems and databases.
- Develop, manage, and analyze spreadsheets and reports related to employee restrictions, absences, and return-to-work activities.
- Prioritize and independently manage a caseload while ensuring timely follow-up and resolution of cases.
- Prepare status updates, reports, and recommendations for leadership and key stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Education: Associates Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or related field.
- Experience: 2+ years of clinical, case management, disability management, absence management, workers' compensation, occupational health, or return-to-work experience preferred.
- Experience coordinating return-to-work programs, managing work restrictions, transitional duty assignments, employee absences, or workers' compensation cases strongly preferred.
- Backgrounds such as Occupational Health with absence management responsibilities, Certified Disability Management Specialist (CDMS), workers' compensation adjusting, case management, leave administration, or Human Resources-related case management are highly desirable.
- Skills: Ability to effectively collaborate with employees, physicians/providers, operational leaders, Human Resources, workers' compensation stakeholders, and customers. Strong understanding of work restrictions, modified duty programs, return-to-work processes, and disability/absence management. Ability to independently manage a caseload while prioritizing multiple responsibilities and deadlines. Advanced computer proficiency with the ability to navigate multiple systems simultaneously and create, maintain, and analyze spreadsheets and reports. Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and other case management or tracking systems. Strong organizational, analytical, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to track employee status, monitor return-to-work milestones, and maintain accurate documentation throughout the case management process.
- Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license required and must be in good standing.

Pay
The expected base pay for this position ranges from $74,000 - $98,000 annually, and will be based on a number of additional factors including skills, experience, and education.
