About the role

The Disability Advocacy Program (DAP) seeks an experienced staff attorney to provide legal representation and advocacy for individuals with disabilities in New York State. The ideal candidate will have strong litigation skills, a passion for disability rights, and a commitment to public service.

Responsibilities

Represent clients in court and administrative hearings

Advocate for clients' rights and interests

Develop and implement strategies to improve access to justice for people with disabilities

Requirements

J.D. degree from an accredited law school

Admitted to practice in New York State

At least 3 years of relevant legal experience

Qualifications

Strong analytical and writing skills

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Skills

Experience with disability rights advocacy

Knowledge of relevant state and federal laws
