Responsibilities

  • Operate electric, diesel, gasoline, or steam powered power construction equipment, such as a motor grader, bulldozer, scraper, shovel, derrick, tractor, front-end loader or other power equipment to excavate, move or grade earth, erect structures, move products, equipment, or materials to and from industrial work areas.
  • Push and pull levers and depress pedals to raise, lower, and rotate boom and to raise and lower load line or to raise and lower blade or bucket.
  • Raise, lower blade or bucket, and rotate boom or load by sight or according to signals from helper.
  • Inspect equipment for defective parts and notify supervisor of defects or malfunctions.
  • Start engines, move throttles, switches, and levers, and depress pedals to operate machines.
  • Signal truck driver to position truck to facilitate loading of dirt, rocks, and other materials.
  • Take actions to avoid potential hazards and obstructions such as utility lines, other equipment, other workers, and falling objects.
  • Clean, maintain, and lubricate equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • No minimum education requirements.
  • 4 years of Journeyman-level experience.
  • Valid Driver's License.

  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and use hands and fingers to perform assigned duties.

  • Work may be performed in industrial and construction environments with exposure to weather conditions, temperature extremes, noise, dust, fumes, moving equipment, vibration, and other site-specific hazards.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and meet all customer, site, regulatory, medical, and fitness-for-duty requirements applicable to the position.
  • Must be able to perform all job duties while maintaining a constant commitment to safety, quality, and productivity expectations.
