Job Summary

Part time Child Care Center Director
Location: La Plata, MD 20646
Salary: $19.50$22.00 an hour
Type: Part-time
Shift: Monday to Friday AM and PM

Key Responsibilities

• Set targets for each department and manage budgets
• Solve inter-departmental issues and handle employee management
• Manage class schedules and ensure efficient staffing
• Coordinate with caregivers, families, social services, and medical professionals
• Grade student tests and monitor academic progress
• Report work-related details to the Regional Director of Operations
• Conduct conferences with parents and students
• Comply with company policies and procedures, safety, and regulatory laws
• Support the Center Director in meeting sales and operational excellence targets
• Lead the staff and community Why It Matters campaign
• Establish and maintain a culture of respect, teamwork, compassion, fun, integrity, and professionalism
• Schedule and lead activities promoting physical, mental, and social development
• Observe and evaluate children's performance, behavior, and health
• Recruit and retain high-quality teachers and assistants
• Ensure child safety and supervision
• Manage, mentor, and coach aides
• Maintain accurate and complete student records
• Seek opportunities for personal and professional growth

Qualifications

• An Associate's degree with 15 semester hours of approved coursework in early childhood or a Bachelor's degree in any field
• 2 years of experience working under supervision with preschoolers in a licensed child care center, nursery school, church-operated school, or similar setting
• CPR and First Aid certified
• Effective listening, communication skills with both children and adults
• Positive role model with enthusiasm, energy, creativity, and sensitivity to children
• Good judgment and sound decision-making
• Knowledge of state policies and procedures regarding child care regulations
• Demonstrated professional level of verbal and written communication skills
