About the Role

Our HCA Florida Fort Walton-Destin Hospital team is committed to partnership, innovation, legacy, and improving more lives in more ways. As Director of Women's & Children's Services, you will ensure high-quality, patient-centered care through oversight of the overall function and staffing of the unit(s)/department(s), forecasting, planning, and budget monitoring. You will foster a culture of accountability and collaboration, supporting the development and implementation of strategies, policies, and procedures in alignment with facility objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Quality
    • Cultivate a superior clinical identity by identifying and implementing evidence-based practices to advance patient safety and quality outcomes.
    • Ensure adherence to standards of care and manage variation in clinical practice to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and cost.
    • Foster a culture of accountability and transparency in care provision.
    • Stay abreast of internal/external benchmarks, accreditations, and designations; actively pursue efforts to achieve them.
    • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards; develop and implement compliant policies, procedures, and practices.
    • Ensure equipment maintenance is performed regularly according to regulatory and/or accreditation standards.
    • Drive efficient patient throughput and high-quality care through volume forecasting, patient flow coordination, and admission/discharge planning.
    • Develop care coordination policies and procedures to promote improved quality, safety, and efficiency.
    • Foster interdisciplinary communication and collaboration; ensure staff with appropriate clinical competencies are assigned to meet patient care needs.
    • Direct nursing practice and unit operations; develop policies, procedures, and nursing standards to assess, meet, and evaluate patient and family needs.

    • Leverage feedback mechanisms to benchmark performance and identify opportunities to improve customer/patient satisfaction.

    • Identify stakeholder engagement strategies, technology advances, and other opportunities to drive differentiation and increase volume.
  • Finance
    • Participate in the annual budget process, including input into department revenue and expense forecasts, staffing, and supply/equipment needs.
    • Monitor department budget performance; identify trends and evaluate variances against the established budget.
    • Develop and implement actions to address performance gaps.
    • Ensure effective labor management, including position control, scheduling excellence, productivity management, and premium pay utilization.
    • Maintain staffing levels to ensure appropriate patient care.
    • Manage operating expenses, including the utilization of supplies and equipment.
    • Identify cost-reduction opportunities and implement actions to achieve savings.

Requirements

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date).
  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure.
  • Associate Degree (minimum).

About the Facility

HCA Florida Fort Walton-Destin Hospital is a 267-bed, top-performing quality hospital with over 300 respected and qualified physicians. Services include an Advanced Primary Stroke Center, a Cancer Care Center, open-heart surgery, and a wide range of specialties. The hospital provides advanced care for critically ill patients and operates a main emergency room (ER), a pediatric ER, and two freestanding ERs.
