The Director, Total Rewards is responsible for leading the design, administration, communication, and continuous improvement of the company’s total rewards programs, including compensation, benefits, and payroll processes. This role ensures programs are competitive, compliant, cost-effective, and aligned with business objectives while supporting the needs of employees and HQ leadership.
Job Summary
- Lead the strategy, design, administration, and governance of total rewards programs, including compensation (base & variable), executive compensation, equity, and benefits, related payroll processes.
- Develop and maintain compensation structures, salary ranges, incentive plans, job pricing practices, and related policies to support market competitiveness and internal equity.
- Oversee annual compensation planning processes, including merit, bonus, incentive, and equity recommendations, in partnership with HR, Finance, and senior leadership.
- Support executive compensation programs, including preparation of analysis, recommendations, and materials for senior leadership and governance discussions.
- Administer and support equity compensation programs, including equity grants, vesting schedules, reporting, participant communications, and coordination with Finance and Legal.
- Maintain accurate equity records and cap table information and ensure appropriate controls, documentation, and compliance.
- Provide guidance to SERVPRO business leaders regarding franchise relationship considerations and the availability of optional educational resources, informational materials, templates, and best-practice content that may be shared with independent franchise owners.
Requirements
- 10+ years of progressive experience in total rewards, compensation, benefits, or related human resources roles, including experience leading compensation and benefits programs.
- Payroll experience is a plus.
- 3+ years of experience leading people, including coaching, prioritizing work, developing talent, and driving accountability for results.
- Experience with equity compensation and long-term incentive programs, including stock options, restricted stock units, equity grants, vesting, cap table administration or support, participant communications, and related reporting, controls, and compliance activities.
- Experience supporting executive compensation programs, including incentive design, market analysis, compensation committee materials, recommendations, and senior leadership-facing presentations.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, and experience with HRIS, compensation, benefits, payroll, or equity administration systems.
- Strong knowledge of compensation practices, market pricing, job architecture, incentive plans, pay equity considerations, and benefits administration.
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to compensation, benefits, payroll, equity, and employee rewards programs.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze data, interpret market trends, develop recommendations, and present complex information clearly to senior leaders.
- Ability to manage vendor relationships, consultants, brokers, systems partners, and internal stakeholders to deliver effective total rewards programs.
- Strong communication, facilitation, and relationship-management skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with employees, business leaders, and franchise owners regarding available resources, educational materials, and organizational information while maintaining professionalism and discretion.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive compensation, benefits, payroll, and equity information appropriately.
- Detail oriented, highly organized, and able to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholders in a changing business environment.
- Flexibility to occasionally work additional hours based on business needs, employee relations matters, compliance deadlines, organizational initiatives, or special projects.
- Capacity to work onsite at SERVPRO Headquarters in Gallatin, Tennessee.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field required.
- Relevant certification such as CCP, CEBS, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or similar credential preferred.
