Job Summary

About the role

The Director of Technology & Product Finance will partner with senior leadership across Engineering, Product, and Design to shape how we invest in technology and product development. This role sits at the intersection of finance, product strategy, and technology investment, providing financial insight and governance across a large-scale technology portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Finance Partnership
    • Act as a trusted advisor to technology and product leaders, translating financial and operational data into actionable insights that shape investment decisions.
    • Partner with Engineering and Product teams to connect roadmaps and initiatives to measurable financial outcomes (e.g., revenue impact, cost efficiency, scalability).
    • Provide guidance on investment decisions, trade-offs, and resource prioritization across the technology portfolio.
  • Planning & Financial Performance
    • Lead annual planning, forecasting, and monthly financial performance reporting for Engineering, Product, and Design organizations.
    • Oversee key cost drivers including headcount, infrastructure, vendor spend, and operating investments.
    • Partner with leadership in business reviews to assess performance, risks, and opportunities.
  • Technology Investment Governance
    • Guide financial evaluation of technology and product investments to assess ROI and strategic alignment.
    • Support investment decisions across engineering and product initiatives.
    • Partner with Accounting on software capitalization and investment reporting.
  • Investment Transparency & Analytics
    • Improve visibility into software development investments and technology spend through financial frameworks and reporting.
    • Own tooling that tracks engineering investment allocation and capitalizable development work.
    • Identify and analyze cost drivers across engineering and infrastructure, aligning operational activity and product usage with consumption-based technology spend (e.g., cloud and platform services).
  • Leadership
    • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing technology finance team supporting the Delivery organization.
    • Drive improvements in financial processes, reporting, and analytics to strengthen investment discipline.

Requirements

  • 8-12+ years of experience in FP&A, strategic finance, investment banking, or consulting.
  • Experience partnering with engineering, product, or technology leadership on investment decisions and resource prioritization.
  • Experience evaluating technology investments, including software development and ROI analysis.
  • Strong understanding of technology cost structures, including engineering headcount, infrastructure, vendors, and software development & capitalization.
  • Experience managing financial planning for large or complex technology investment portfolios.
  • Strong financial modeling and analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex data.
  • Excellent executive communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems and BI tools supporting planning and reporting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field (MBA or CPA preferred).
  • Knowledge of coding languages such as SQL, or use of AI would be a plus.

Qualifications

  • Strong financial modeling and analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex data.

Pay

The expected compensation for this position is $180,000.00 USD - $225,000.00 USD. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location, qualifications, skills, and experience.
