About the role

The Director of Technical Program Management role is part of our Multi-Product Shopping team which sits within our Technology division. The Multi-Product Shopping team is responsible for the search and shopping flows for Flights, Cars, Activities, and Packages on Brand Expedia.

Responsibilities

  • Define, drive, and continuously refine the technical program strategy and roadmap for complex, multi-team initiatives, aligning outcomes with Expedia Group’s business and technology objectives.
  • Lead end-to-end delivery of large-scale, multi-team initiatives by creating and managing integrated technical program plans, identifying and mitigating risks and dependencies, and ensuring high-quality, timely outcomes.
  • Partner closely with engineering, product, and architecture leaders to translate business objectives into clear technical requirements, system integration plans, and API/data contract agreements across domains.
  • Establish and scale best-in-class technical program management practices, including standardized processes, tooling, and metrics for execution excellence, operational readiness, and continuous improvement.
  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team of Technical Program Managers, fostering domain fungibility, strong technical aptitude, and deep collaboration across multiple product and platform areas.
  • Champion the use of data, analytics, and AI/ML-enabled tools to plan, execute, and optimize delivery workflows, including familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real world products, and safely integrates and operates AI/ML‑enabled solutions that improve outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10+ years of relevant professional experience in program management and 5+ years of people management experience.
  • Extensive experience in technical program management driving large‑scale, cross‑functional initiatives across multiple engineering teams, services, or domains.
  • Proven ownership of complex technical programs from inception through launch and operationalization, including requirements definition, program planning, execution tracking, and risk/issue management.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand distributed systems, APIs, data flows, and technical architectures sufficiently to influence design decisions, manage dependencies, and drive trade-offs with engineering leaders.
  • Proven track record establishing program structures, governance, and metrics for large technical portfolios, including risk management, dependency management, and stakeholder communication at the organizational level.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience leading multi‑year, multi‑team technology transformations or platform programs, including migration, modernization, or large‑scale integration efforts.
  • Track record of improving engineering and operational outcomes at scale through program‑level mechanisms, including data‑driven decision making, metrics frameworks, and continuous improvement loops.
  • Experience orchestrating programs that leverage AI‑driven systems or AI/ML‑enabled components, including safely integrating and operating these capabilities to improve customer and business outcomes.
  • Proven ability to influence technical architecture and long‑term technology direction across organizations by facilitating design decisions, aligning roadmaps, and resolving cross‑team technical conflicts.
  • Familiarity with AI‑driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real world products, with specific experience guiding teams on responsible use, quality, and measurable impact of AI capabilities within complex programs.

Pay

The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $231,000.00 to $323,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $369,500.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Schedule

The schedule for this role is typically full-time.
