Director, System Planning
Summary
Venture Global LNG (“Venture Global”) is a long-term, low-cost provider of American-produced liquefied natural gas. The company’s Louisiana-based export projects service the global demand for North American natural gas and support the long-term development of clean and reliable North American energy supplies. Using reliable, proven technology in an innovative plant design configuration, Venture Global’s modular, mid-scale plant design will replace traditional designs as it allows for the same efficiency and operational reliability at significantly lower capital cost.
Key Roles And Responsibilities
- Direct the System Planning function, including hydraulic design, system modeling, capacity evaluations, and operational analysis to maintain high standards of safety, reliability, and efficiency.
- Aid in the development and execution of transmission asset expansions, new energy ventures, and major projects (e.g., supply enhancements, market links, and reliability improvements) that increase system capacity and generate significant EBITDA.
- Participate in multidisciplinary teams through project life cycles, including Feasibility and FEED phases, ensuring designs meet operational & commercial requirements.
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of pipeline system models, load forecasting tools, and future state analyses to optimize revenue, maintenance capital, and system performance.
- Collaborate with Business Development, Operations, Gas Control, and Project Execution teams to identify transportation opportunities, cultivate customer relationships, and minimize operational disruptions.
- Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of future initiatives to support strategic growth, market presence, and financial objectives.
Qualifications And Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Petroleum, or related field) required; Master's degree or advanced certifications preferred.
- Experience: 10+ years of progressive experience in natural gas pipeline operations, system planning, hydraulic design, project development, and business development within the energy sector. Proven track record in leading large-scale pipeline projects and teams.
- Leadership: Demonstrated experience managing teams through significant growth periods, major capacity expansions (e.g., 1+ BCF/d), and high-value projects generating substantial revenue.
- Technical Skills: Expertise in pipeline hydraulic modeling, system analysis, load forecasting, compressor station design, and tools for capacity evaluation. Strong knowledge of gas transmission systems, contractual entitlements, and operational optimization.
- Interpersonal and Strategic Skills: Excellent collaboration, communication, and customer relationship management abilities; experience interfacing with commercial teams, operations, and external stakeholders. Strategic thinking with a focus on economic feasibility, risk management, and long-term planning.
- Preferred: Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certifications; familiarity with FERC regulations and industry standards for gas pipelines.
