Director, Supplier Relations PVF Division - US
Position Summary
The Director, Supplier Relations – Pipes, Valves, Fittings (PVF) US is responsible for leading the division’s supplier strategy to grow earnings, strengthen member competitiveness, and increase the overall value of Affiliated Distributors (AD) within the supplier community.
Primary Responsibilities
Develop and execute the division’s supplier strategy in alignment with PVF U.S. financial and growth goals.
Negotiate supplier agreements including rebates, growth incentives, terms, Power Buys, promotions, and sponsorships to maximize earnings and member value.
Lead and manage the PVF Vendor Committee and related task forces to support divisional priorities.
Drive leveraged purchasing opportunities and expand participation in group programs.
Recruit and onboard new preferred suppliers that strengthen the division.
Maintain strong, productive relationships with existing and prospective suppliers.
Advocate for members in supplier discussions and assist in resolving conflicts when needed.
Monitor supplier performance and implement improvements where necessary.
Benchmark AD programs against national competitors and identify areas to improve competitiveness.
Represent PVF US at industry events and supplier meetings.
Serve as the division’s lead interface with Financial Programs and maintain oversight of supplier documentation and compliance.
Collaborate with other AD divisions to manage shared suppliers and exchange best practices.
Member Focus
Partner with member distributors to understand market needs and align supplier programs accordingly.
Work with the PVF US engagement team to increase member participation with preferred suppliers.
Identify and execute plans to reduce purchase leakage and shift volume to AD suppliers.
Communicate program value, earning opportunities, and market insights to members.
Gather and act on supplier feedback from members.
Provide consistent market updates through calls, meetings, training, and written communication.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong financial understanding with the ability to grow earnings through effective supplier programs, rebates, and margin improvement.
Proven ability to negotiate complex agreements and influence senior supplier and distributor leaders while maintaining long-term relationships.
Uses data and reporting to identify opportunities, measure performance, and improve results.
Experience developing and executing supplier strategies that support divisional goals.
Deep knowledge of PVF markets including Industrial, Commercial Mechanical, Oil & Gas, and Groundwater.
Demonstrated success managing rebate and incentive programs that drive distributor performance and supplier growth.
Ability to lead committees and cross-functional initiatives.
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Skilled at resolving conflict and building consensus among senior stakeholders.
Understanding of global sourcing, logistics, and Low-Cost Country supply environments.
Organized and capable of managing multiple priorities independently.
Qualifications
A strong reputation for integrity, results, and industry credibility among PVF members and suppliers.
Bachelor’s degree preferred; relevant industry experience and performance are more important than formal education.
7–10+ years of progressive experience in supplier management, purchasing, or category management within PVF or related industries.
Deep understanding of PVF, Industrial, Commercial Mechanical, and Oil & Gas markets preferred.
Additional Comments
- Willingness to travel approximately 30–40% to meet with suppliers, members, attend industry events, and visit AD headquarters.
