Director Student Involvement & Engagement
About the role
The Director of Involvement & Engagement oversees the Student Activities, Student Organizations, and Student Government Association departments. Key responsibilities include leading campus-wide programming, managing student organizations, and fostering student development.
Responsibilities
- Provides overall direction and management for the Involvement and Engagement department and Student Government Association.
- Oversees all programs, staff, and services, including EXCEL Campus Activities, Springfest, Maverick Stampede, Mavs on the Town, and Homecoming.
- Serves on major university-wide event planning committees as assigned.
- Supervises, recruits, and evaluates professional staff, student employees, and student leaders.
- Cultivates community partnerships in support of university programs.
- Develops and implements departmental policies and procedures.
- Ensures safety, security, and risk management issues for student organizations and campus events.
- Prepares pre- and post-event analysis and makes recommendations for improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Higher Education Administration, Organizational Leadership, Student Personnel, or related field.
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in Student Affairs, preferably overseeing campus programming and student organization services.
- Experience supervising staff and overseeing budgets.
- A Class “C” Operator’s Driver’s License is required.
- Masters degree in Higher Education Administration or related field preferred.
- Eight (8) more years of experience in student affairs with demonstrated experience overseeing both campus programming and student organization services.
- Experience advising student groups and interpreting university departments and procedures as they pertain to advising.
- Familiarity with Greek life, student governance, and campus activities boards.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of student development theory, university judicial theory/practice, and student learning outcomes assessment.
- Knowledge of contractual and liability issues related to component areas.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present effectively to university and community audiences.
- Ability to handle multiple work priorities, organize and plan projects effectively, and exercise independent judgment and sound decision-making.
Skills & Abilities
- Establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships with students, colleagues, and campus partners.
Pay
The annual salary for this position ranges from $90,200 to $105,000. The final offer will be commensurate with the candidate’s relevant experience and qualifications.
Schedule
Monday through Friday; 8:00am through 5:00pm. Requires occasional evening or weekend hours.
