About the role

The Director of Sourcing & Contracting reports to the VP of Supply Chain and provides leadership for the hospital’s strategic sourcing, contracting, supplier management, and value analysis functions. This role develops and executes sourcing strategies for supplies, purchased services, capital equipment, and clinical products to support cost savings, contract compliance, standardization, quality outcomes, and patient safety.

The Director ensures sourcing and Value Analysis decisions are data-driven, clinically appropriate, financially responsible, and aligned with the organization’s quality, safety, and operational goals. The Director partners with physicians, clinical stakeholders, senior leaders, department directors, finance, legal, and suppliers to advance standardization, manage expenses, improve contract compliance, and support effective resource utilization.

This role serves as a change leader and relationship builder, promoting Supply Chain as a collaborative, service-oriented function focused on meeting organizational and customer needs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic sourcing, contracting, supplier management, and value analysis functions.
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies for supplies, purchased services, capital equipment, and clinical products.
  • Drive cost savings, contract compliance, standardization, quality outcomes, and patient safety initiatives.
  • Ensure sourcing and Value Analysis decisions are data-driven, clinically appropriate, and financially responsible.
  • Partner with physicians, clinical stakeholders, senior leaders, department directors, finance, legal, and suppliers.
  • Advance standardization, manage expenses, improve contract compliance, and support effective resource utilization.
  • Serve as a change leader and relationship builder to promote Supply Chain as a collaborative, service-oriented function.

Requirements

  • Five years of Supply Chain-related experience in a hospital setting, including purchasing, materials management, GPO contracting, contract negotiations, and strategic sourcing.
  • One year of progressive participation in and responsibility for process improvement, savings implementation projects, or quality management efforts.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Health Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in a related field.

Skills

  • Excellent working knowledge of computer software such as Excel, Access, and computerized materials management systems.
  • Strong oral, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization, including senior leadership.
  • Self-motivated with strong analytical and contract negotiation skills.
