About the role

We are seeking a strategic, operationally-focused Director, Strategic Finance (Medicare Advantage) to serve as the primary financial architect for our core insurance business. This is a newly created, high-impact role designed for a leader who excels at the intersection of financial analysis, operational efficiency, and long-term value creation.

Responsibilities

  • Define, Measure, and Optimize Unit Economics: Partner with Actuarial, Growth, and Ops teams to develop a nuanced understanding of unit economics. You will define and track multi-year cohort and plan-level views, while most importantly, working to optimize unit costs and growth levers.
  • Lead Planning and Forecasting: Partner with leadership, actuarial and operations to develop annual plans and quarterly forecasts.
  • Drive the Business “Rhythm”: Partner with leadership to review core reporting and initiative progress consistently. You will leverage the monthly close process to ensure alignment with the budget and maintain rigorous scrutiny of ROI for all operational activities. Most importantly, you will ensure insights lead to action.
  • Evaluate Strategic Projects: Assess the value of high-stakes programs. Once capital is allocated, you will track these initiatives to ensure they deliver the projected value.

Requirements

  • Financial Expertise: 10+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, specifically within healthcare, payer, or insurance environments.
  • Industry Knowledge: Deep experience with Medicare Advantage.
  • Strategic Thinking: Background in optimizing unit economics and capital allocation.
  • Executive Presence: Proven track record as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, able to influence strategy through data-driven storytelling and rigorous financial discipline.
  • Intellectual Agility: Ability to build scalable planning and governance frameworks from scratch.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and driving financial strategy.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with financial modeling.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.

Skills

  • Strong financial analysis and forecasting skills.
  • Experience with Medicare Advantage and payer environments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Excel and other financial modeling tools.

Pay

A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is $150,000 - $225,000 USD.
