About the Opportunity
The Director, Software Engineering for Protect leads a key segment of the organization’s real-time, multi-signal fraud detection platform. This role is responsible for shaping the technical strategy and people management within the Protect team, focusing on scaling distributed systems that analyze voice, device, and behavioral data. The position impacts the quality, execution, and effectiveness of the team and contributes to aligning technical efforts with product and business goals.
Responsibilities
- Define and implement engineering strategy for the Protect platform area.
- Lead and develop engineering managers and senior engineers.
- Deliver complex distributed systems with a balance of speed, scalability, reliability, and long-term health.
- Collaborate with Product, Research, Security, and executive stakeholders to align priorities.
- Enhance architecture, observability, operational excellence, and developer productivity.
- Use metrics and engineering judgment to improve delivery health and system resilience.
Requirements
- 8+ years of engineering experience including leadership in software, platform, or infrastructure.
- Proven success in owning and scaling distributed systems, APIs, or microservices in production.
- Strong expertise in cloud-native systems and engineering practices on AWS and/or GCP.
- Experience improving execution through metrics, processes, and organizational design.
- PREFERRED: Experience in fraud prevention, authentication, voice biometrics, or related security.
- Familiarity with data science infrastructure, machine learning, or generative AI.
- Experience leading remote or distributed teams during growth and change.
Pay Range and Compensation Package
