Program Description
Marsha’s House is a shelter for 81 homeless men and women who identify as part of the LGBTQ community. The shelter is located in the Belmont section of the Bronx.
Overall Responsibilities
The Director of Social Services at Marsha’s House oversees the day-to-day operations and ensures compliance with established program outcomes. Key responsibilities include:
- Supervision and coordination of clinical services
- Ensuring compliance with department of Homeless Services and Project Renewal guidelines
- Assignment for all new admissions
- Crisis intervention and on-call crisis support
- Leading a team of Peer Counselors and Case Managers
- Staff development activities including weekly team meetings and individual supervision
- Collaboration with senior staff to develop and implement program policies and procedures
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Social Work or Bachelor’s degree with required experience
- Spanish speaking a plus
- Good verbal communication skills
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience, 1 year in a supervisory position
- Experience working with LGBTQ population is essential
