Director, Senior Corporate Counsel - Real Estate

About the role

For our client, we are seeking a Director, Senior Corporate Counsel - Real Estate to join the team of a leader in the Retail & Consumer Goods space. This role will lead legal support for the company’s retail real estate activities, including transaction documentation, contract compliance, and dispute resolution. The position will partner closely with Real Estate, Construction, and other internal teams to help advance business objectives while managing legal risk. It will also oversee outside counsel, control legal spend, and support real estate-related litigation in a fast-paced environment. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Responsibilities

• Draft and negotiate documentation for retail real estate transactions
• Monitor compliance with real estate contracts and resolve non-compliance issues
• Provide legal support to internal departments, including Real Estate and Construction
• Counsel management on real estate matters
• Oversee outside counsel in real estate transaction documentation
• Manage outside counsel fees within budget
• Support and manage real estate-related litigation

Qualifications

• JD required
• 8+ years of legal experience, preferably in corporate or regulatory settings
• Proven track record negotiating complex commercial retail real estate transactions
• Experience with lease agreements, construction contracts, and related documentation
• Ability to balance legal risk with business objectives in a fast-paced environment

Pay

Compensation: $127,000 – $237,800 annually
