Director, Sales & Operations Planning
About the role
Be part of an amazing story Macy’s is more than just a store. We’re a story. One that’s captured the hearts and minds of America for more than 160 years. A story about innovations and traditions…about inspiring stores and irresistible products…about the excitement of the Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks, and the wonder of the Thanksgiving Day Parade. We’ve been part of memorable moments and milestones for countless customers and colleagues. Those stories are part of what makes this such a special place to work.
Responsibilities
- Own Macy’s end-to-end S&OP process, including leading cross-functional S&OP discussions that surface risks, quantify trade-offs, and drive timely decisions across Planning, Finance, Transportation, and Operations — ensuring partners are aligned to the final plan and accountable to outcomes.
- Translate enterprise inbound and outbound guidance into weekly, facility-level forecasts using historical trends, transportation logic, and operational performance.
- Proactively identify when forecasts are trending too high or too low. Escalate risks early to maintain network balance and protect service—partnering to shift volume strategically when facilities are constrained.
- Track network and facility performance, highlight variances immediately, and diagnose root causes.
- Raise call-outs and ensure action plans are created, owned, and delivered when performance deviates.
- Integrate operational changes, new initiatives, and process improvements into forecasting and labor planning so facilities remain appropriately staffed and always ready to support the business.
- Continuously refine forecasting logic, tools, and processes to improve accuracy, reduce volatility, and support long-term planning and capacity strategies.
- Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.
Requirements
The ideal candidate brings strong analytical rigor, an understanding of operational flow, and the confidence to navigate complex conversations across senior partners. They must be able to react quickly when forecasts shift or performance trends break down, while also contributing to longer-range strategies such as labor modeling, capacity readiness, and network balancing.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience owning or leading a formal, end-to-end S&OP process, balancing demand, supply, labor, and capacity across short- and long-range planning horizons.

- Collaborative personality able to build relationships across the organization, build consensus, and move projects forward.
