About the role
Director, Safety & Compliance for Capacity*Connect at Sparkfund, a utility services company, is responsible for ensuring safety standards are met across various projects. Located in Minneapolis, MN, this role involves frequent travel within Minnesota and occasionally out-of-state.
Responsibilities
Own the Safety Program: Develop and evolve safety strategies, standards, and policies.
Ensure Compliance: Maintain compliance across utility partners, data center clients, and regulatory environments.
Maintain Audit-Ready Documentation: Ensure all safety program records are up-to-date and ready for audits.
Be a Field Leader: Conduct site visits and ensure safety standards are being followed on job sites.
Drive Compliance & Performance: Manage OSHA/MNOSHA reporting, supplier prequalification platforms, and key safety metrics.
Lead Incident Response: Investigate incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
Manage Subcontractor Safety: Oversee subcontractor prequalification and performance, issue corrective actions, and represent Sparkfund during audits.
Collaborate Across the Business: Partner with various departments to embed safety in operations and support onboarding and training processes.
Qualifications
10+ years of experience in field safety, EHS, or risk management.
Proven experience owning or leading safety programs.
Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations (1910/1926) and multi-jurisdictional compliance.
Experience leading incident investigations, audits, and corrective action processes.
Preferred: Experience with battery energy storage systems (BESS) or electrical infrastructure, familiarity with NFPA, UL, and IEEE standards, experience working with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).
Professional safety certifications (CSP, ASP, CHST, OHST, etc.).
Experience managing subcontractor safety programs.
Background in multi-site or distributed operations.
Experience partnering with executive leadership on safety strategy.
What We Offer
Salary range: $140,000 - $195,000 (based on experience and qualifications).
