About the role
As a Mega Market Relationship Manager for Schwab Retirement Plan Services, you will apply advanced client relationship leadership, strategic consulting, and retirement plan expertise to guide Schwab’s largest enterprise clients. This role centers on using your skills to influence executive decision makers, solve complex organizational challenges, and advance clients’ total rewards and financial wellbeing strategies.
Responsibilities
- Apply advanced client relationship leadership, strategic consulting, and retirement plan expertise to guide Schwab’s largest enterprise clients.
- Understand client priorities, anticipate emerging needs, and deliver insights that shape long-term outcomes.
- Identify risks, propose solutions, and articulate plan design and regulatory considerations with confidence across 401(k), Defined Benefit, Cash Balance, and Nonqualified Deferred Compensation plans.
- Navigate complexity, influence decisions, and deliver enterprise-level value.
- Guide a high-performing team of client service managers responsible for operational accuracy and daily service delivery.
- Foster a culture of accountability, critical thinking, continuous improvement, and client-first execution.
Requirements
- 12+ years of relationship management or client leadership experience within retirement, investments, or benefits consulting.
- Experience managing clients with AUM over $1B.
- Expertise across retirement plan types (DC, DB, Cash Balance, NQDC).
- Validated understanding of ERISA, industry rules and regulations, and non-qualified plan design.
- Thorough knowledge of investment products and platforms including passive and active Mutual Funds, ETFs, CTFs, Money Market Funds, other investment products, in-plan advice and guidance, and managed account services.
- Executive relationship management and credibility with C-suite stakeholders.
- Consultative problem-solving across complex retirement program environments.
- Risk identification and mitigation rooted in ERISA and regulatory knowledge.
- Strategic planning and governance facilitation.
- Cross-functional collaboration with product, compliance, investment, actuarial, and technology partners.
- Clear, compelling communication—written, verbal, and presentation.
- Sound judgment and resilience in high-visibility client situations.
Qualifications
- ASPPA, CEBS and/or NIPA designation preferred. QPA, CPC or equivalent certification/designations preferred.
- Broadened total rewards or financial wellness knowledge preferred.
