Director, Regulatory

For our client, we are seeking a Director, Regulatory to join the team of a leader in the Energy & Utilities space. This role will shape the legal and regulatory framework that supports commercialization, market expansion, and project development. You will partner closely with business leaders, technical teams, and operational stakeholders to navigate environmental permitting, utility regulation, and evolving energy market requirements. The position calls for sound judgment, strong business acumen, and the ability to translate complex regulatory issues into practical guidance in a fast-paced environment. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available Compensation: $233,000 – $275,000 annually Responsibilities Develop and lead regulatory legal strategy for commercialization and market growth Advise on state and federal environmental laws and compliance for manufacturing Provide legal support for air permitting and environmental approvals Lead strategy on product regulatory requirements and emissions standards Advise on utility regulation and energy market rules for distributed generation Support project development by identifying regulatory risks and permitting needs Monitor and interpret legislation affecting distributed energy resources Qualifications J.D. preferred with active membership in at least one U.S. state bar 15+ years of legal experience for Director level; 20+ years for Senior Director level Significant experience in environmental, energy, utility, or regulatory law Strong knowledge of environmental permitting and energy regulation Familiarity with the Inflation Reduction Act and its requirements Experience with technology, manufacturing, infrastructure, or energy companies preferred Excellent judgment and business acumen in a fast-paced environment Benefits Remote work flexibility Pre-IPO stock options Diverse and inclusive work environment Opportunities for professional growth and role flexibility Collaborative company culture focused on clean energy transition Our client is an equal opportunity employer.
