Director Quality Management
About the role
Lead, shape, and further develop a global Product Quality team of approximately four professionals located in the United States and India. Inspire, coach, and empower team members to act as the voice of quality across regions and functions. Own Quality Management throughout the entire product lifecycle for a diverse portfolio of power semiconductor solutions for automotive and functional safety products, as well as emerging power solutions for advanced robotics applications. Define and drive Functional Safety quality strategies for automotive and safety-critical applications in accordance with applicable standards, including ISO 26262.
Responsibilities
- Confirm that management plans (safety plan, document plan, verification plan) are aligned with the implementation of ISO 26262.
- Perform functional safety pre-assessments in preparation for baseline submission to the Central Organisation for Audit and Assessment (ATV CA3).
- Conduct Functional Safety audits and assessments as a co-auditor during the product development lifecycle to ensure compliance with ISO 26262.
- Support external Functional Safety assessments/audits by certification bodies (e.g., TÜV, Exida).
- Conduct continuous assessments against ISO 26262 requirements to create evidence for the safety case.
- Confirm that corrective actions for systematic issues are agreed upon and adequately addressed to meet ISO 26262 requirements.
- Provide guidance on ISO 26262 process compliance and product conformance to project team members, project managers, and safety managers.
- Ensure quality processes fully support Functional Safety concepts from item definition through production and field monitoring.
- Drive quality oversight of Functional Safety verification, validation, qualification, and confirmation activities.
- Ensure alignment of quality strategies with safety cases, safety mechanisms, and product reliability requirements.
- Establish and maintain quality roadmaps supporting future technologies, products, and packages.
- Participate in project board reviews and act as a key decision-maker for project release approvals.
- Lead product risk assessments and make release decisions under challenging schedules and business constraints.
- Ensure robust implementation of quality and reliability methodologies throughout development and production.
- Initiate and lead continuous improvement programs focused on quality, reliability, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
- Support key customer engagements and quality discussions, representing the company as a senior quality leader.
- Ensure process compliance during product development and production.
- Ensure availability of required quality assurance measures and documentation.
- Apply advanced knowledge of quality systems, methods, and tools successfully to complex situations.
- Communicate with customers regarding product-related quality topics and questions.
- Provide release documentation (e.g., PPAP) to customers.
- Drive effective escalation management and resolution of critical customer quality concerns.
Qualifications and Skills
- Leverage diverse perspectives to drive innovation and improve decision-making.
- Maintain strong customer focus and remain composed under pressure while balancing multiple priorities.
- Exhibit strong communication skills with business acumen.
- Have extensive experience in quality management across development, qualification, manufacturing, and customer support.
- Hold a Certification in Semiconductor Automotive Functional Safety.
- Have extensive knowledge of ISO 26262, including: Standard content, requirements interpretation, and implementation methodology; Safety analysis methods: FTA, DFA, FMEDA, FIT reporting per ISO 26262 and SN 29500; Quality Methodologies & Standards IATF 16949 / ISO 9001; Risk Management, FMEA, PIN FMEA, QFD, 8D, PPAP; Statistical Quality Methods; JEDEC & AEC-Q Qualification Standards; IPC Standards; Technical Knowledge: Semiconductor technologies, product development, manufacturing, and supply chain quality; Wafer processes and process control; Burn-In concepts and Design for Stress reliability corridor management with quarterly RPT submissions.
- Experience with advanced power stages, point-of-load regulators, or automotive power semiconductor products (highly desirable).
- Familiarity with product quality requirements for automotive EV systems, autonomous systems, and robotics (strong plus).
- Excellent stakeholder management and customer communication.
- Project management experience (advantageous).
- Fluent English required; German language skills or willingness to learn.
Benefits
The Wage range that the company expects to pay for a qualified candidate in the United States is: San Jose, CA: Minimum of $194,200 salary per year / Maximum of $267,100 salary per year. In addition, all employees will be eligible to participate in an incentive plan.
