About the Role
Oversee quality assurance and quality control programs across multiple manufacturing sites in the US and Mexico. Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 standards while driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. Optimize and standardize calibration, operation, and quality assurance processes for electronic sensors and monitoring systems in catalytic converter production, including gas analyzers, temperature probes, and pressure sensors.
Responsibilities
- Assess and validate that all quality control testing equipment meets industry accuracy and compliance standards, ensuring the integrity of electronic systems.
- Evaluate and enhance automated quality control systems to ensure continuous accuracy and efficiency in data acquisition technology for catalytic converter manufacturing.
- Develop quality standards and perform risk assessments for suppliers of electronic or sensor components that support manufacturing processes.
- Analyze waste elimination using quality improvement methodologies including Six Sigma, Lean, and Kaizen.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to maintain compliance with environmental and industry standards (e.g., EPA and California Air Resources Board).
- Establish and maintain IATF 16949 standards across manufacturing sites.
- Communicate fluently in Spanish (verbally and in writing) with teams and suppliers in Mexico.
- Travel to manufacturing sites in California (once per month for 1 day), Utah (once per quarter for 2 days), and Tijuana, Mexico (1-2 days per week).
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical or Electronic Engineering, Quality Management, or a closely related field.
- 5 years of progressive experience in a senior quality management role within a manufacturing environment.
- 5 years of experience in:
- Conducting internal audits.
- Working with ISO 9001 and/or IATF 16949 standards and quality management systems.
- Analyzing waste elimination using Six Sigma, Lean, and Kaizen methodologies.
- Ensuring compliance with OEM automotive market requirements for quality, engineering, 6S, and product standards.
- Using ERP and quality management software to track grid cases and disposition solutions.
- ASQ-Certified Quality Engineer Certification.
- IATF 16949 Certification.
- Black Belt Certification in Six Sigma or equivalent.
- Fluency in Spanish (written and spoken) to communicate with teams and suppliers in Mexico.
Pay
Salary range: $168,000–$180,000 USD. Final compensation will be based on factors including experience, education, certifications, skills, and work location.
