Leadership Responsibilities

Directs provider compensation and contracts department functions and provides guidance and direction for other members of Finance Team and IHA leadership to effectively support the IHA provider compensation and contracts program.

Covers coordination with VP-Provider Compensation and Contracts and executive leadership team (President, CMO, COO, CFO, CHRO) on all aspects of existing and future provider compensation programs.

Oversees and directs all activities related to the timely, accurate and complete preparation of all provider compensation for the organization.

Designs, develops and implements new compensation programs.

Models compensation and design related to Mergers and Acquisitions activity.

Implements compensation programs for new practices via Mergers and Acquisitions activity.

Maintains oversight for IHA’s physician compensation program; ensures timely and effective resolution of issues; provides guidance and support for IHA’s Compensation Committee regarding updates or changes to relevant policies and/or compensation models.

Conducts Site Medical Director and physician leadership training regarding IHA’s physician compensation program to ensure understanding of practice and individual provider compensation results; communicates with providers directly when questions regarding their individual compensation results arise.

Oversees the PCN and NEN process and ensures timely and effective documentation of employment status changes.

Leads physician growth requests by reviewing division-submitted business cases and presenting strategic recommendations to senior leadership for approval.

Evaluates physician workforce growth requests, evaluating business cases, and recommending approvals to senior leadership.

Management Responsibilities

Manages assigned staff - hiring, training, supervising, evaluating, corrective action and terminating staff.

Manages team and department functions in a way that builds and leverages teamwork and cooperation; inspires a shared sense of mission and achievement among team members.

Manages the work of assigned staff including the monitoring of staff competencies, hiring of new staff, orientation of new assignments, developing goals and objectives, conducting annual performance appraisal and the utilization of performance resolution process when needed.

Promotes educational opportunities for staff; develops future leadership within the team.

Reviews annual staff satisfaction reports with IHA’s CFO; develops, implements and monitors ongoing improvement plans.

Ensures that assigned staff receive timely information regarding policy, procedure or other changes that affect their ability to perform the essential functions of their job.

Fiscal Responsibilities

Accountable for the thorough analysis and report-out of all relevant IHA Physician Compensation, assures compliance with federal, state and safety regulations and ensures alignment with IHA policy and procedure.

Responsible for development, assessment and administration of all IHA provider compensation models. This will include compensation plan design for new and existing primary care, specialty and surgery providers.

Ensures that all plans are well-documented with clear information and instruction regarding payment formulas, timing and other relevant information to support accurate and timely administration of each compensation model.

Manages and interprets service agreements with the various hospitals; determines available compensation pools by provider type and evaluates funds flow in regard to the Trinity Health financial relationship.

Accountable for the accurate capture and reporting of all source data utilized in determining physician compensation allocations, including the preparation of quarterly overheads, Relative Value Units (RVUs) monthly productivity reports, and payroll reports needed for input into the model; ensures information is accurately recorded in IHA’s general ledger.

Gathers requested data, analyzes, models and prepares reports as requested by Operations leadership to provide sufficient information to support effective operational decisions regarding office staffing and provider compensation.

Communication Responsibilities

Works respectfully and cooperatively with IHA senior management, staff, providers and other leadership.

Maintains excellent rapport and cooperative relationships within Finance Team and throughout IHA leadership; ensures that conflicts are resolved in a constructive and timely manner.

Attends organizational meetings as required; administers regular staff meetings to gather feedback and develop teamwork; assures that all staff and have support and accurate information about IHA activities, goals or other relevant changes that affect department functions.
