Director, Product Quality
About the role
This leader will oversee product quality strategy across a complex hardware and apparel portfolio, ensuring quality is designed into the development lifecycle from the start. The role will establish the operating mechanisms, metrics, and decision gates needed to support launch readiness, while also strengthening risk management and change control. This person will partner closely with engineering, operations, supply chain, and quality leadership to build a closed-loop quality management system and improve product performance data. The position also calls for a highly collaborative leader who can influence executive stakeholders, shape product strategy, and develop a high-performing quality organization.
Responsibilities
- Define and execute product quality strategy for the hardware and apparel portfolio
- Drive quality planning and risk management throughout the development lifecycle
- Own and manage product change management processes and quality decision gates
- Establish operating mechanisms and metrics for launch readiness and product quality
- Build a high-performing product quality organization with a culture of excellence
- Collaborate with quality leadership to develop a closed-loop quality management system for performance data
- Lead initiatives to influence product strategy and ensure alignment across teams
- Travel up to 30% to engage with partners and suppliers
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field; Master's preferred
- 15+ years of experience leading product quality in high-volume consumer electronics or similar complex hardware
- Proven track record in defining quality strategy and operating mechanisms
- Expertise in quality systems and methodologies such as DFMEA and root cause analysis
- Strong ability to influence executive stakeholders and ensure cross-functional alignment
- Experience with global suppliers and contract manufacturers during product cycles
- Excellent communication and analytical skills with a focus on AI integration
Location
Boston, MA – US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Pay
$200,000 – $245,000 annually
