Director, Product Management Partner Experiences
Position Summary
The Director of Product Management for Partner Ecosystem & Integrations is the single-threaded owner responsible for the strategy, technical roadmap, and end-to-end integration of third-party (3P) partner devices into the Vivint Home ecosystem.
Primary Responsibilities
Strategic Ecosystem & Integration Roadmap
3P Partner Roadmap Ownership: Own the multi-year product strategy, prioritization, and technical execution blueprint for all third-party device integrations within the Vivint Home ecosystem.
Strategic Partner Evaluation: Serve as the organization’s primary scout and thought leader on identifying external technical partners whose hardware expertise can fill critical portfolio gaps and unlock “new-to-world” smart home experiences.
Seamless Interoperability Standards: Define the strict performance, security, and user experience baselines that external hardware partners must meet to ensure flawless, native performance inside the Vivint app ecosystem.
Technical Execution & Architecture Alignment
Cross-Organizational Architecture: Partner with internal Core Platform Engineering, Cloud Infrastructure, and Information Security teams to design scalable, secure SDKs and APIs that facilitate low-latency 3P device communication.
Standards Advocacy: Drive Vivint’s product alignment with emerging smart home industry standards (such as Matter, Thread, and specialized cloud-to-cloud APIs) to simplify external onboarding and future-proof the ecosystem.
Technical Authoring: Independently write data-driven strategy narratives, business requirements documents (BRDs), and product definitions (PRFAQs) to gain executive alignment on high-stakes ecosystem expansion opportunities.
Influence, Negotiation & Partnership Development
External Technical Diplomacy: Act as the primary technical product interface to external partners’ product and engineering organizations, steering their roadmaps to align with Vivint’s architectural needs. Including negotiating and owning the partner relationships.
Matrixed Internal Influence: Operate with extreme autonomy to influence, unblock, and drive execution across internal cross-functional peer organizations, including Software, Legal, UX Design, and QA Engineering teams.
Lifecycle Governance: Build rigorous integration testing and post-launch telemetry review mechanisms to continuously evaluate the performance, stability, and customer satisfaction of third-party hardware integrations.
Required Skills & Functional Dimensions
Autonomous Individual Contribution: Proven track record of operating with complete strategic independence. You must excel at leading via cross-functional influence without relying on administrative reporting lines.
Integration & API Literacy: Deep technical understanding of cloud-to-cloud integrations, local wireless mesh topologies (Zigbee, Z-Wave, Thread), device driver layers, and platform-level SDK development.
Ecosystem Design Thinker: Exceptional systems-thinking capability with a focus on creating frictionless user experiences when combining hardware and software assets from completely distinct corporate entities.
Executive Presence & Narrative Construction: Superb written and verbal communication skills. Proven ability to command technical discussions with external executives and synthesize complex partnership logistics into clear execution milestones for internal leadership.
Required Education & Experience
Experience: 8+ years of product management experience, with at least 4+ years explicitly focused on building developer platforms, partner API ecosystems, IoT integrations, or connected smart home environments.
Partnership Track Record: Demonstrated experience leading complex, technical product integrations with tier-1 consumer electronics or software enterprise partners.
Matrixed Project Delivery: Proven success driving large-scale, multi-phase technical hardware or software launches across highly distributed, multi-disciplinary organizations.
Education: B.S. or M.S. in a Technical Field (Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or related discipline); equivalent practical engineering experience considered.
