Director, Product Design/Platform Design Lead

Responsibilities

  • Actively fine-tune expertise in product design and usability, resolving complex issues.
  • Determine methods and procedures for new assignments, coordinating activities of others.
  • Consult management and staff on user research, usability testing, surveys, interviews, work studies, and heuristic evaluations.
  • Review documentation of research findings presented to product and development teams.
  • Create and review new and modified user personas.
  • Create and guide the creation of concepts, information architecture, user interface designs, wireframes, storyboards, prototypes, and specifications.
  • Lead the implementation of visual styles supporting platform branding to enhance user effectiveness.
  • Interpret user feedback and insights to improve the user experience.
  • Review and approve usability activities and artifacts to ensure software applications meet customer expectations.
  • Utilize multiple sources of information (field work, interviews, internet, intranet, market data/literature) to inform product definition and evaluation processes.
  • Advocate for user-centered design and establish user-centered analysis, design, best practices, and standards.
  • Lead complex projects affecting team success, with internal and cross-functional outcomes requiring in-depth analysis and evaluation.
  • Build strong relationships with immediate team members and across the company.
  • Create formal networks with key decision makers and cross-functional partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, user experience, design, human computer interaction, or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required.
  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • 12 or more years of experience required.
  • Experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of user-centered design principles and methodologies.
  • Ability to lead and mentor a team of designers.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with various stakeholders.
  • Experience with design tools such as Sketch, Figma, Adobe XD, etc.
  • Understanding of user research techniques and usability testing.
  • Experience with creating and managing design systems.
  • Experience with agile methodologies and iterative design processes.

Pay

The base salary for this position is expected to be between $127,000 and $250,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNY total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.

Schedule

This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
