Director, Product Design
About the role
Join the public powerhouse that is securing the future of AI. Rubrik has officially entered a new era. Fresh off a headline-making successful IPO and boasting over $1.57 Billion in ARR, we have the market stability of a giant and the hunger of a startup. We’ve already conquered Data Security—now, we are pivoting to our most ambitious mission yet: Securing and Accelerating the World's AI Transformation. As a Director, Product Design at Rubrik, you will be pioneering the next generation of User Experiences for the enterprise!
What You'll Do
- Build & Lead High-Performing Teams: Recruit, mentor, and retain a world-class team of designers. You’ll be responsible for their career growth, providing coaching on both craft and navigational "soft" skills to help them scale their impact.
- Define Strategic Vision: Partner with VP and Director-level leadership in Product Management and Engineering to define the long-term roadmap. You’ll transform high-level business goals into actionable design strategies that balance immediate needs with a "North Star" vision.
- Champion Design Excellence: Ensure all team deliverables meet the highest standards of craft, usability, and visual consistency across the product.
- Drive Operational Excellence: Establish and refine design processes that allow the team to move fast without breaking the user experience. You will oversee the end-to-end execution of complex product areas, ensuring a high bar for quality and consistency.
- Evangelize Design Culture: Act as a primary advocate for Design across Rubrik. You’ll bridge the gap between technical complexity (cybersecurity, AI, infrastructure) and consumer-grade usability, ensuring that "Design" is seen as a business differentiator, not just a service.
- Deepen Customer-Centricity: Lead the team in cultivating direct customer relationships. You’ll ensure that research and validation are core components of the design cycle, keeping us grounded in real-world enterprise problems.
What You’ll Bring To The Team
- Leadership Experience: At least 3 years in a formal people management role.
- Strategic Portfolio: A portfolio that showcases not just beautiful UI, but your ability to lead teams through complex problem-solving, organizational shifts, and successful product launches.
- Business Acumen: The ability to speak the language of PMs and Engineers. You understand how design decisions impact the bottom line and technical debt.
- Communication Mastery: Exceptional presentation and storytelling skills. You can command a room of executives and inspire a team of designers with equal ease.
- Educational Foundation: Bachelor's degree in Design (Product, HCI, etc.) or equivalent experience. A Master’s degree in HCI or an MBA is a great bonus for this level.
