Director, Procurement - Engineering & Railroad Materials

Job Summary

The Director, Procurement - Engineering & Railroad Materials leads strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, contract execution, and category strategy for critical railroad materials and related services. This role partners closely with Engineering, Operations, Finance, Legal, and field leadership to ensure reliable supply, disciplined cost management, strong supplier performance, and practical procurement solutions that support safe, efficient railroad operations.

Primary Activities And Responsibilities

• Supervise and provide guidance to direct reports and manage strategic direction for the engineering procurement team including establishing and implementing long-term goals for the department promoting effectiveness and efficiency
• Manage supplier relationships to ensure consistent long-term access to vital services and materials including fielding related questions, training, policy and procurement interpretation and alignment with key stakeholders
• Manage CSX internal relationships to build support and coordination on strategic efforts
• Manage the prioritization of contract negotiations as CSX progresses their engineering efficiency efforts
• Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree/4-year Degree
• 3 or more years of experience in Procurement, Finance, Supply Chain, Operations or other closely related commercial business area

Preferred Qualifications

• Graduate Degree
• 5 or more years of experience in Procurement, Finance, Supply Chain, Operations or other closely related commercial business area
• Experience sourcing railroad materials, capital-project support, field services, or other operationally critical categories
• 3 or more years of supervisory experience
• Knowledge and skills in project management, negotiation, sourcing strategies, and associated legal requirements
• Ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership/executive audiences
