Job Summary
The Director of Procurement is a senior leadership role responsible for shaping and executing Sotera Health’s global procurement strategy. This leader will drive meaningful business impact by building strong cross-functional partnerships, advancing procurement capabilities, and aligning category strategies with company objectives across all business units. As a strategic partner to leaders throughout the organization, the Director will ensure that procurement initiatives support enterprise goals related to growth, cost optimization, and risk management. This individual will also play a key role in positioning Procurement as a trusted, value-added contributor to the business.
Essential Functions
- Procurement Strategy
- Lead the development of short- and long-term Procurement strategies and objectives.
- Partner with business unit leaders to create category strategies that support and align with enterprise objectives.
- Cross-Functional Partnership & Impact
- Formalize strategic partnerships with key functions including Finance, Engineering, Operations, IT, and Facilities to proactively identify cost-saving and value-creation opportunities.
- Establish performance metrics and success frameworks to evaluate team effectiveness and Procurement’s impact on the broader business.
- Collaborate across teams to identify and implement process improvements across the requisition-to-pay cycle.
- Operational Excellence & Governance
- Lead enterprise-wide sourcing initiatives and support complex, high-value procurement efforts.
- Drive continuous improvement of procurement processes, systems, and governance structures.
- Maintain strong relationships with strategic suppliers and ensure alignment with business needs and risk mitigation strategies.
- Team Leadership
- Lead and develop the Procurement team, strengthening its role as a strategic partner by enhancing capabilities in strategic sourcing, category management, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth.
Qualifications
- Education: Candidates must have their BS or BA, MBA desirable. CPM, CPIM preferred.
- Experience: 10+ years of experience in Business, Strategic Sourcing, Supply Chain Management, or Consulting. Demonstrated management capabilities, especially related to leading strategic initiatives, driving performance, leading change efforts, and producing superior results. Recognized as a leader, who has recruited, trained, developed personnel, and led successful teams.
- Characteristics: A “spark in the eyes” team player, cooperative, unselfish, thinks corporatively, not departmentally, who can work easily and synergistically with other functional departments. Ability to effectively interpret and communicate details, into concise and understandable facts, numbers, and actionable items. Perceptive, visionary, good foresight, good intuition.
