Director, Privacy Legal

For our client, we are seeking a Director, Privacy Legal to join the team of a leader in the Media space. This role will lead global privacy legal strategy and serve as a trusted advisor on privacy compliance, product counseling, and regulatory matters. You will partner closely with technical, product, and business teams to help shape privacy practices that support a dynamic, user-facing media platform. The position also involves guiding disclosures and discussions with regulators while helping strengthen the organization’s privacy posture across jurisdictions. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available Compensation: $299,200 – $418,800 annually Responsibilities Manage the legal team's global privacy compliance program and provide legal guidance Develop and maintain privacy-related policies and processes aligned with industry standards Oversee discussions, negotiations, and disclosures with government regulators regarding compliance efforts Act as the principal legal expert on privacy, ensuring consistent counseling across the legal team Collaborate with technical teams to investigate privacy and security issues while ensuring legal compliance Serve as a strategic legal partner with strong interpersonal skills across the organization Advocate for and promote the organization’s commitment to user privacy internally and externally Qualifications Law degree (JD, LLB, LLM, etc.) with local licensing; preferably across multiple jurisdictions 12+ years of legal experience, particularly in privacy and product counseling, ideally with 5+ years in-house Proven track record of managing privacy compliance programs in dynamic, product-driven environments Familiarity with global privacy laws, especially those impacting technology companies Exceptional legal drafting ability and preference for clear, straightforward communication Experience collaborating with regulators, particularly in European jurisdictions Ability to lead and mentor a high-performing legal team in an inclusive workplace Benefits Comprehensive healthcare benefits and income replacement programs 401k with employer match Global benefit programs tailored to employee lifestyles, including workspace and professional development support Family planning support Gender-affirming care Mental health and coaching benefits Flexible vacation and paid volunteer time off Generous paid parental leave Our client is an equal opportunity employer.
