Director, Pharmacy - Pharmacy - Full Time 8 Hour Rotating Shift (Exempt) (Non-Union)
This position reports to the director of the PA program and is 100% dedicated to the PA Program at the Keck School of Medicine of USC (KSOM).
About the role
The Academic Learning Specialist designs and implements support services and enrichment programs for students in the PA Studies programs. Responsibilities include coordinating the learning support program for PA students, ensuring students progress according to program benchmarks, and developing strategic study programs such as mentoring and tutoring sessions. The specialist assesses student needs, creates individualized study plans, and connects students with additional support services as needed.
Responsibilities
- Design and coordinate programs that support student retention, academic success, and individualized support throughout the medical school curriculum.
- Work with individual students to assess learning styles, strengths, and weaknesses; prescribe individual academic work plans.
- Formulate plans to help students perform more effectively.
- Ensure students are aware of learning tools and resources provided by KSOM.
- Design and deliver programs focused on study and learning skills, including time management, knowledge organization, and test-taking strategies.
- Assist in developing and managing student retention programs and provide a comprehensive plan for curriculum, EOR examinations, and PANCE exams.
- Manage overall tutorial and academic support services, including recruitment, training, and supervision of tutors, and evaluate service effectiveness.
- Develop and implement systems for monitoring student academic progress; provide statistical reports to enhance programs and service delivery.
- Maintain student records in compliance with FERPA and document sessions, meetings, and communications.
- Serve as part of the student affairs team and perform other duties as needed.
Requirements
- Master’s degree required; doctoral degree preferred.
- 3–5 years of experience in higher education; experience in a medical school is preferred.
- Combined experience/education may substitute for minimum education requirements.
- Preferred skills: Ph.D. in student personnel administration, education, counseling, or a related field.
Pay
The annual base salary range for this position is $66,000 – $80,000. When extending an offer, USC considers factors such as scope and responsibilities, candidate experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal/state/local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, and external market considerations.
