About the role
The NBCUniversal Creative Team is seeking a Director of Performance Creative to strategically build and lead the performance creative practice across the entire creative organization. This role involves evolving and expanding the existing performance creative capability, embedding a testing and optimization mindset into creative work, and driving organizational change. You will work with creative, strategy, and client teams to integrate performance thinking from pitch to production, ensuring NBCU is seen as a performance creative partner.
Responsibilities
- Define and build the performance creative practice at NBCU, extending beyond digital to all creative work through methodology, frameworks, and playbooks for versioning, A/B testing, and optimization.
- Embed a performance lens at the earliest stages of client conversations, aligning creative approaches with client KPIs and integrating testing options before asset production.
- Maintain and evolve the existing performance creative capability within the digital portfolio, providing strategic direction and quality oversight while expanding its scope.
- Serve as the senior performance creative voice in client conversations, offering data-driven insights, optimization recommendations, and a clear narrative around testing strategies.
- Develop benchmarks, best practices, case studies, and pitch-ready materials to scale performance thinking across teams.
- Partner with the Director of Creative Technology to define technology requirements for versioning, A/B testing, and optimization at scale.
- Drive internal adoption of performance creative practices through relationships, demonstrated results, and change management.
Qualifications
- Performance creative expertise: Experience in paid media environments, thinking in variants, designing effective A/B tests, and building usable testing frameworks. Understanding of creative performance across digital, social, CTV, and other platforms.
- Media fluency: Knowledge of how media is planned, bought, and measured, including campaign structures, inventory sales, cross-platform measurement, and client performance reporting.
- Strategic and organizational influence: Ability to operate at the capability architecture level while being hands-on when needed. Experience working cross-functionally with creative, sales, and technology teams to drive change.
- Data literacy: Comfort with campaign analytics, performance reporting, and tools to translate data into actionable insights and narratives.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Ability to work fluidly across teams with diverse processes, priorities, and vocabularies, establishing credibility in unfamiliar domains.
- Director-level leadership: Proven experience leading a capability or team, taking ownership, managing up and laterally, and knowing when to push or listen.
- Fresh thinking grounded in reality: Perspective from outside legacy media models, with experience in successful performance creative practices, balanced with an understanding of organizational constraints.
Schedule
This is a hybrid position requiring in-office work a minimum of four days per week.
Pay
Salary range: $130,000 - $175,000, plus sales incentive compensation and long-term incentive eligibility.
