The Opportunity

We're seeking a transformational Director, People & Culture to help shape the future of our organization through high-performance leadership, accountability, and AI-enabled workforce transformation. This highly visible leader will serve as a trusted advisor, coach, and change catalyst, partnering with leaders across the business to strengthen culture, accelerate organizational effectiveness, and drive meaningful business outcomes through people, process, and technology. As a player-coach, you'll oversee key People & Culture programs, talent processes, HR operations, and enabling technologies while helping our workforce embrace AI-native ways of working. Approximately 20% of this role will be dedicated to supporting organizational AI enablement efforts and workforce transformation initiatives.

Location: Pittsburgh, PA (North Shore) - Hybrid (Core office days: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday)
Reports to: VP, People & Culture

What You'll Do

  • Accountability Culture & Organizational Effectiveness
    • Champion a culture of ownership and accountability, partnering with leaders to set clear expectations and performance standards.
    • Upskill and coach leaders on performance management, feedback, and accountability conversations to build sustainable high-performance practices.
    • Own the employee engagement strategy end-to-end: survey administration, results analysis, and action planning that translates insight into measurable improvements in ownership and execution.
  • AI-Nativity & Workforce Transformation
    • Serve as a visible champion for AI-native ways of working, dedicating approximately 20% of capacity to the AI Enablement Team.
    • Lead AI Hackathon Sprints and capability-building initiatives that challenge and empower teams to re-imagine workflows and processes through an AI-first lens.
    • Coach leaders and employees on practical AI applications that improve efficiency, decision-making, and innovation, driving adoption through effective change management.
    • Partner across the business to identify and implement opportunities for AI-enabled transformation.
  • People Team Leadership & Operations
    • Lead and continuously improve performance management, talent management, and learning & development programs that build leadership and organizational capability.
    • Guide leaders through employee relations matters and complex people issues.
    • Oversee HR systems and technology platforms (UKG, Lattice, SharePoint, Microsoft 365, and emerging AI tools), leveraging workforce and people analytics to inform decisions.
    • Ensure compliance with employment laws and maintain company policies and the employee handbook.

Requirements

  • 10-12 years of progressive Human Resources experience.
  • 5-7 years of HR leadership experience at the Manager, Director, or equivalent level.
  • Demonstrated success leading organizational change, workforce transformation, and technology-enabled initiatives.
  • Strong ability to influence senior leaders and drive change across complex organizations.
  • Experience building high-performing teams and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Psychology, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related discipline.
  • Experience leveraging HR technology, workforce analytics, and AI-enabled tools.
  • Experience leading AI adoption, digital transformation, or future-of-work initiatives.
  • Professional certifications such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR, ATD, or equivalent.
