Director, Patient Care Services - Short Stay Diagnostic Nursing

Responsibilities

• Develops a therapeutic relationship with patients, family members, visitors, and colleagues to provide care coordination utilizing evidence-based practice.
• Interprets and directs the implementation of nursing philosophy and objectives, departmental policies, and procedures and applies recognized standards of practice.
• Affirms organizational policies, procedures and practices are current and evidence-based relative to protocols and develops and modifies as necessary.
• Plans, selects, and devises nursing operations, work methods, procedures, workflow and standards for quality and quantity of work including staffing standards.
• Plans and develops patient safety innovations and practice improvement.
• Plan, assign and review work of staff to ensure that group objectives are met.
• Hires, trains, develops, and manages staff to ensure that qualified staff exists to meet group objectives.
• Assign, direct and review the work of subordinate supervisors/other nursing personnel.
• Prepare formal answers to, and recommend the adjustment of, grievances and disciplinary matters.
• Prepare budget for assigned area or program and is responsible for adherence to approved budget.
• Defines capital needs, acquires, and provides oversight of equipment needed to support the critical care outreach program.
• Establishes, implements, and evaluates quality of care to monitor and evaluate operations for compliance with licensure, accreditation, and regulatory standards.
• Integrate shared leadership and foster collaboration across multi-disciplinary disciplines to arrive at decisions affecting SSU’s site of care.
• Monitor and evaluate operations for compliance with licensure, accreditation, and regulatory standards.
• Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Requirements

• Illinois Registered Nursing license required.
• Bachelor’s Science Degree in Nursing required.
• Master's Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Business or other related field required.
• A minimum of five (5) years clinical nursing management experience with progressive responsibility is required including relevant nursing experience in leadership within procedural areas (Cath, IR, GI or NV labs).
• Strong communication, customer service and decision–making skills, and project management are required.
• Knowledge of budgetary processes and financial principles; knowledge of labor laws, standards of care, and regulatory standards required.
• Nationally certified through ANCC or other approved certifier within 6 months of hire.
• Current CPR/ACLS/PALS and/or other required unit specific certifications.
