Director - Packaging Automation Group (PAG)

The Director, PAG will develop and execute Shorr’s automation go-to-market strategy and solutions offerings across Shorr’s existing customer base and target prospects. This role drives strategy across packaging automation, supplier alignment, product selection, and customer solutions to increase revenue and margin growth for Shorr’s national footprint.
About the Role
This position has P&L responsibility for the $50M Packaging Automation Group and leads three business units: Packaging Automation Sales team, Field Service Technician team, and the Parts & Service team. Responsibilities include full execution of the department, covering sales, vendor-supplier performance, payment compliance, project management for installation, service technicians, repair, and parts sales.
Responsibilities
- Profitably grow revenue and margins to achieve packaging automation annual sales and EFO plan through automation solutions with new and existing customers.
- Drive process improvements to ensure an exceptional customer experience in all aspects of the process, with emphasis on support, administration, and repeat business after the sale.
- Create and enforce performance metrics for post-sale processes, including Accounts Receivable, technical support and service, parts sales, and repeat business.
- Align PAG team resources to support Shorr Account Executives in the sales process with technical expertise, product selection, and pricing for equipment automation proposals.
- Maintain and develop manufacturer relationships and programs to support field sales.
- Evaluate and drive new technology applications to present emerging automation programs within the vertical markets served.
- Collaborate with Marketing to develop social awareness campaigns, vertical solution material, automation marketing tools, white papers, case studies, and category expertise to drive awareness with internal and external customers and prospects.
- Drive Shorr’s value proposition for equipment technical services by developing technical staff through training and certifications.
- Consult and collaborate with Supply Chain to leverage best-in-class suppliers for current and prospective customer needs.
- Partner with vertical market leaders to provide automation solutions supporting consumable business in E-commerce, Food, Healthcare, 3-PL, and Industrial markets.
- Provide direction and training to Shorr Equipment Specialists and work with Shorr Sales Managers to review and develop the Equipment Specialist role.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience at the senior level of the business.
- Comprehensive understanding of industry regulations, profitability levers, and key metrics driving decision-making and productivity within packaging automation sales, service, and maintenance.
- Understanding of packaging industry solutions and competitors.
- Strong technology acumen and experience designing packaging and process improvement solutions for direct-to-consumer orders.
- Strong financial acumen with forecasting, profitability analysis, and metrics.
- Strong executive presence and presentation skills, with experience interacting and presenting at senior levels of companies and clients.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and drive them to completion.
- Ability to persuade and influence within the organization and with suppliers to garner needed support resources.
- Travel: 30%+.
Pay
The base pay range for this role is $180,000 – $220,000 per year.
