About the Role
The Vanderbilt Health Executive Search Team is conducting a national search for a Director of Organizational Effectiveness and Leadership Development. This role is responsible for leading initiatives that enhance organizational performance, employee engagement, and strategic alignment. The Director partners with senior leaders to design and implement strategies that drive cultural transformation, leadership development, change management, and continuous improvement across the enterprise.
Responsibilities
- Leadership Development
- Collaborate with HR and the Learning & Organizational Effectiveness team to design a leadership development strategy and related programs for frontline leaders and high-potential talent development.
- Formalize a consistent talent review and succession planning approach leveraging Workday Talent modules for enterprise-wide consistency.
- Coach leaders on team effectiveness, communication, and strategic thinking.
- Create and deliver an assessment and executive coaching strategy for use across Vanderbilt Health.
- Culture & Engagement
- Develop a meaningful employee listening strategy to generate insights across the talent lifecycle (onboarding, engagement, exit).
- Create a future-focused strategy for the engagement survey cycle, incorporating best-practice external research.
- Drive initiatives that foster a high-performance, inclusive, and value-driven culture.
- Lead employee engagement strategies and action planning based on survey insights.
- Deliver the enterprise engagement survey and action planning process.
- Performance
- Lead the enterprise performance management cycle and process, enhancing systems and communications while incorporating best practices.
- Align performance management with compensation for a comprehensive plan.
- Establish KPIs to measure organizational effectiveness and track progress.
- Use data and analytics to inform decisions, report outcomes to stakeholders, and improve processes based on feedback.
Preferred Experience
- Workday Talent: Experience planning strategy for the roll-out of Workday Talent Modules to support Leadership Development strategies.
- Qualtrics Platform: Experience with Qualtrics or engagement survey platform strategy, design, and deployment, including multi-entity or multi-country roll-outs.
- Team Leadership: Experience leading teams (initially 2-5 employees) and managing vendor relations, with the ability to informally influence key stakeholder groups.
- Change Leadership: Leverage change management background and structured approaches to inform strategies for enterprise Center of Excellence (COE) initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 10 years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong leadership development experience.
- Expertise in creating and executing executive development and coaching frameworks.
- Experience building first-time front-line management programs.
- Experience designing and implementing organizational surveys.
- Firm understanding of the 9-Box talent management framework.
- Workday experience, particularly with Talent Management, Learning, and HCM modules.
- Experience with Qualtrics.
- Health industry experience.
