About the Role
This is a professional fundraising position responsible for leading the Athletics Development major gift program. The role involves identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a targeted portfolio of priority fundraising prospects aligned with Athletics’ strategic priorities and objectives. Responsibilities include tracking team fundraising activities such as monthly and quarterly solicitations, visits, and portfolio reviews. The position works closely with University Advancement and athletic leadership to execute fundraising initiatives aimed at raising private donor support for Tulane Athletics.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal, organizational, management, and leadership skills.
- Interact effectively with coaches, administrators, student-athletes, and vendors.
- Maintain extreme organization, self-motivation, and intrinsic drive.
- Multi-task effectively and prioritize assignments to meet deadlines.
- Generate philanthropic revenue through major gift strategies.
- Utilize proficient computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, and other development-related software.
- Work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Travel locally and nationally for appointments.
NCAA Compliance
- Ensure all Department of Athletics and University-related activities operate in full compliance with university, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.
- Attend and participate in scheduled compliance seminars and support the Athletic Department’s efforts to monitor compliance with NCAA regulations.
- Seek interpretations from the compliance staff before acting when necessary.
- Report potential rules violations immediately.
- Complete required compliance paperwork in a timely and efficient manner.
- Monitor all assigned areas and/or program activities closely to maintain compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years’ direct fundraising or related experience in the solicitation and closing of gifts of $100K and higher. Transferable, related experience such as marketing, admissions, public relations, alumni relations, trust officer, or sales may be considered.
- OR High School Diploma or equivalent and 11 years’ direct fundraising or related experience in the solicitation and closing of gifts of $100K and higher (transferable, related experience such as marketing, admissions, public relations, alumni relations, trust officer, or sales may be considered).
- Preferred Qualification: Master’s Degree.
- Working knowledge of Advance, Paciolan, and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
