About the role

Lead and manage operations for Business Unit by providing oversight, direction, and support to the Project Managers and their teams. Responsible for conducting regular performance reviews and providing coaching to all direct reports to facilitate their professional growth and development.

Responsibilities

  • Served client growth and retention by collaborating with business development and work acquisition teams.
  • Provided service to customers in alignment with Trautman and Shreve core values and promoted a prosperous business relationship for all.
  • Directed and managed the Business Unit and Operational Managers to evaluate and implement actions consistent with the overall company strategy and culture.
  • Supervised, coached, and developed staff on a regular basis, including communication of performance expectations, provision of performance metrics, regular performance reviews, career path guidance, and individual training plans.
  • Managed budget planning, including cost to complete, labor loading projections, percent complete, billings, cash flow projections, and ensured timely resolution of accounting department requests.
  • Mentored potential leaders and fostered leadership skills in potential leaders.
  • Oversaw and supervised projects and their teams, striving to exceed established objectives.
  • Optimized supplier satisfaction/loyalty through improved operations, including increasing relations with suppliers to improve efficiency on all projects and building cohesiveness with all suppliers.
  • Implemented productivity/quality metrics designed to minimize costs and enhance efficiency by using quantitative and qualitative measures, such as scheduling, task planner, percent complete drawings, earned revenue tools, and other productivity metrics.

Requirements

  • Minimum 6-10 years progressive experience in project management or operations, sales or marketing in the Construction Industry – working for multi-million dollar mechanical contractors.
  • Undergraduate degree in business, finance, engineering or similar degree preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of the industry and current events.
  • Technical competencies – understanding of software, hardware, networks, etc.
  • High initiative and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Effectively handle stressful situations and deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented.

  • Setting performance goals that are tailored to Business Unit and challenging basic assumptions underlying Business Unit operations.
  • Developing Operational goals for Business Unit that are aggressive, yet obtainable and tied to long-term goals of the company.
  • Establishing short-term goals that align with the long-term objectives to enhance functional and operational activities.
  • Monitoring Business Unit performance against performance goals to ensure progress is being made. Taking corrective action if necessary.
  • Identifying and establishing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for Business Unit and delivering reports on performance to measure against.
  • Conducting monthly project status/projection reviews with each Project Team and reporting these to the Executive Team.
  • Auditing new projects and associated requirements to assign project management teams that will have the best chance of success for the organization and the customer.
  • Supporting strategic management processes that require restructuring, reengineering, and refocusing the organization as required through action plans and focus-driven processes.

Pay

Compensation Range: Minimum annual base salary $145,000 to maximum annual base salary $200,000; DOE
