About the role
The Director of Operations, Women’s Basketball coordinates all operations of the Cornell University Women’s Basketball Team in accordance with Cornell, NCAA, and Ivy League rules. This role provides support for the women’s basketball staff and team by managing the day-to-day administrative operations of the program and working closely with the coaches, student-athletes, and colleagues in the Department of Athletics and Physical Education.
Responsibilities
- Support the head coach with logistics to support the team, including but not limited to arranging team travel, organizing meals at home and on the road, planning and supporting alumni and team reunion activities, supervising social media content, planning logistics for recruiting visits, and managing equipment needs for the team.
- Upload, breakdown, and share of team practice, scout, and game film.
- Frequent evening and weekend work is required, as well as travel during the basketball season.
Requirements
- Associate’s Degree with two to four years of experience in a comparable role, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong communication skills and in-depth operation knowledge of all associated video equipment.
- Familiarity with and the ability to operate film and computer technology to support a nationally-competitive basketball team.
- Experience with event and operations management.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel primarily).
- Experience working directly with people from various socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Experience incorporating the perspectives of multiple communities. Ability to advocate for individuals from a broad range of backgrounds.
Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to build working relationships with a wide variety of individuals and organizations.
- Effective organization and communication skills, to consistently relay accurate information and needs to the appropriate audience.
- The ability to effectively collaborate with the other staffs on campus when planning logistics for practice, games, team events, and miscellaneous events throughout the year.
Pay
Beginning salary for this 10-months per year position is $56,000.
