About the role
The Director of Utilization Management oversees the utilization management process, ensuring that healthcare services are provided in an efficient and cost-effective manner. This includes reviewing medical necessity, appropriateness, and effectiveness of services, as well as collaborating with providers to optimize patient care.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the utilization management process to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.
- Review medical necessity, appropriateness, and effectiveness of services to ensure optimal patient care.
- Collaborate with providers to develop and implement strategies that enhance service delivery and reduce unnecessary costs.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Provide guidance and support to staff members to improve their utilization management skills and knowledge.
Requirements
- A minimum of a Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in healthcare utilization management or a related field.
- Proven ability to manage complex projects and meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
