About the role

The Director of the City Manager’s Office of Racial and Social Equity oversees initiatives aimed at promoting racial and social equity within the city. This includes developing policies, programs, and strategies to address systemic inequalities and foster inclusive communities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement policies, programs, and strategies to promote racial and social equity.
  • Oversee the implementation of diversity and inclusion initiatives.
  • Collaborate with community stakeholders to identify and address issues related to equity and social justice.
  • Evaluate progress towards equity goals and make adjustments as necessary.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to staff in the office.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as urban planning, public policy, sociology, or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in government or non-profit organizations.
  • Proven ability to develop and manage equitable policies and programs.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to engage with diverse groups and advocate for equity.
  • Experience working with data and metrics to measure and improve equity outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations related to equity and social justice.
  • Experience with community engagement and outreach strategies.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.

Skills

  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Pay

Salary range: $80,000 - $100,000 annually, depending on experience.

Schedule

Full-time position, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
