Director of Technical Accounting & Reporting
About the role
This newly created, highly visible position offers the opportunity to build and strengthen the organization's technical accounting and external reporting function while partnering directly with executive leadership on complex accounting matters and finance transformation initiatives. Reporting to the Global Financial Controller, this individual will serve as the organization's technical accounting expert, leading external reporting, researching complex accounting issues, and driving improvements to reporting processes.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the preparation and review of quarterly and annual external financial reporting packages
Research, analyze, and document complex U.S. GAAP accounting matters
Serve as the technical accounting expert for acquisitions, divestitures, financing transactions, and other non-routine events
Lead the implementation of new accounting standards and related disclosure requirements
Partner with Accounting, FP&A, Treasury, Tax, Legal, and executive leadership on complex accounting matters
Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors for technical accounting and reporting
Cook up audit requests and ensure timely resolution of reporting matters
Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, automation, and overall finance operations
Present technical accounting conclusions and reporting updates to senior leadership
Top Priorities for This Role
Public accounting foundation with strong technical accounting expertise
SEC and external financial reporting experience
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment with minimal oversight
Bachelor's degree in Accounting (CPA required or strongly preferred)
10+ years of progressive accounting experience
Big 4 or public accounting foundation with public company experience
Extensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP and technical accounting research
Experience with SEC reporting, including 10-Ks, 10-Qs, financial statements, and disclosures
Hands-on experience with purchase accounting, business combinations, discontinued operations, and other complex accounting transactions
Experience supporting acquisitions, divestitures, debt transactions, and other strategic initiatives
Oracle, Workiva, HFM, or other enterprise consolidation/reporting systems experience preferred
Strong project management and process improvement experience
