About the role

Rhode Island FC is seeking an experienced leader to serve as Director of Team Operations. Reporting to the General Manager and Assistant General Manager, this role oversees day-to-day team operations and ensures players and staff are fully supported across training, travel, matchday operations, player care, and equipment. This is a year-round position requiring attendance at all training sessions, scrimmages, home and away matches, and pre-season camps.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and accountability for Team Operations, Player Care, and Equipment.
  • Ensure training, matchday, travel, and day-to-day logistics run smoothly and efficiently.
  • Anticipate and resolve operational issues while minimizing disruption to players and staff.
  • Serve as the team’s liaison with the USL League Office and national team associations as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable USL policies and Collective Bargaining Agreement requirements.
  • Supervise the Equipment Manager and oversee daily equipment operations.
  • Oversee all team travel, including transportation, accommodations, itineraries, meals, and on-site logistics.
  • Manage logistics for preseason camps, tournaments, and special competitions.
  • Cook up player onboarding, relocation, housing, and offboarding.
  • Establish relationships with airports and travel providers to support team movements.
  • Evaluate preseason destinations based on travel, lodging, transportation, meals, training, medical, security, and scheduling requirements.
  • Cook up with internal stakeholders and external counsel on immigration and visa processes, including P-1 and dependent visas and green cards.
  • Develop and manage the Team Operations budget with a focus on fiscal responsibility.
  • Ensure training and matchday environments are properly resourced and supported.
  • Maintain financial accountability for daily Team Operations expenses.
  • Manage the equipment budget and annual ordering process with the Equipment Manager.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university.
  • Experience working with elite-level athletes.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Experience managing complex team travel itineraries.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications and current technologies.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish preferred.

Physical Requirements

Ability to walk, bend, stand, and reach throughout the workday and participate in sustained activities for extended periods in accordance with applicable labor laws.
